About This Program

There is one conference where the world's most prepared delegates go to prove it. Harvard Model United Nations — organized by Harvard University students and held annually across the two largest hotels in downtown Boston — brings together over 3,000 delegates from 60+ countries for what is widely recognized as the oldest, largest, and most prestigious high school Model UN conference in the world. This is not an introduction to MUN. It is the summit.

Founded in 1953 — with roots tracing back to Harvard's first Model League of Nations in 1927 — HMUN carries over seven decades of tradition and substantive excellence. Every committee is designed and chaired by carefully selected Harvard undergraduate staff, with background guides built on months of rigorous research. Delegates debate in English at the highest level of procedure, representing countries before committees that mirror the real architecture of international diplomacy. The best-performing delegates earn Special Recognitions issued by Harvard University, a credential that follows them into university applications and beyond.

Between sessions, students experience Boston and the Ivy League — campus tours, historic landmarks, and the academic energy of one of the world's great university cities. The week is preparation for a world-class stage, lived inside it.

Students arrive having already completed the Zero-to-Diplomat preparation journey — pre-travel training resources and a Global MUN Online practice tournament — so that when they step into committee, they are ready to lead.

This is the program for schools that have built their MUN program and are ready to bring it to Harvard.

Harvard Model United Nations — Boston, MA

Harvard Model United Nations is organized by Harvard University students and held in downtown Boston — spanning the two largest hotels in the city. Every delegate who participates receives a Harvard University MUN Participation Certificate, issued directly by Harvard. Top-performing delegates earn Special Recognitions granted by Harvard MUN. Students also receive a Zero-to-Diplomat Course Certificate endorsed by Global Youth Congress, and a GYC Participation Certificate documenting their preparation journey. This is the only high school MUN conference where academic recognition comes directly from Harvard University.

Who is This Program For?
